Photo Dump 6: Moray and the Salt Mines

I posted a lot of pictures recently...but there were even more. Last Saturday we visited the Salt Mines and Moray. The salt mines are just what they sound like. Moray on the other hand is a little more interesting. It stands as the ruins of an agricultural research site. Each tier has a different temperature over the course of the year. Thus the Incas could grow different crops on each one.

I saw these in the tourist shop. I don't think anyone really cares about the San Fransisco Cubs in Peru, but Saint Francis, now that's a man they can get behind.

We stopped in a city along the way to get a demonstration on how natural dyes are made.
Right now she is making soap.

And spinning thread.

Finally, the weaving.

So the bus had a little hiccup and we had to move to another. But it was too small for everyone...
So you know, adjustments were made.

The salt mines.

This extremely salty water is dried out in pools and harvested.

While there are thousands of pools, a family may own about 8. Big companies, get much, much more.

This looks like a huge canyon, but really it's just a little stream about four in

Heading out.

On the move again to Moray.

Moray!

This is when Marilyn was first feeling under the weather. She decided to take in the view from the top.

So from here on out, we just did what all tourists do. Take cutesy shots.

These where the steps to get down to the center.

This base used to be a storage house.

Cheesy shot.
Double Cheese.

Triple Cheese.

There is said to be positive energy at the bottom. We had a short mediation circle and people were encouraged to make a wish. I wished for a friend of mine to find peace.

Marilyn from the top.

Turns out there is a mountain named Veronica.

Veronica and Veronica

Keeping a sense of humor and wrapping up the day.
