Today after clinic, we just happened to run into a parade. This is Corpus, a huge promenade of the saints. Each district of the city comes together with their own personal saint that represents them. The saints sit upon floats, followed by dancing and a marching band. Flowers and music everywhere.
More photos under the cut.

People pouring from every crevice of the square. For once, the natives out weighed the tourists. |
And here they come! |
My favorite part of the parade. The pure embodiment of the human spirit. |
They took their job quite seriously. Very dramatic and fun to watch. |
Compare the stoic faces of the young men. |
This is why children are awesome. |
Shout out to my favorite instruments. :D |
Shout out to the second favorites. :) |
They finally get a wellittle rest. Now we know they were carrying a stand to keep the saint from touching the ground. |
Now on the way to our actual destination, San Domingo Church. It was built upon an Incan temple after the conquistadors pillaged the dickens out of it. We were only allowed to take pictures of certain areas as there was a ton of oil paintings. Flash damages them.
The Incan parts of this are all at 70 degree angles. This keeps them steady in earth quakes. On the other hand, the Spanish stuff has been rebuilt a few times because it can't stand the shakes. |
And here we are on the balcony. We've taken to just wearing our scrubs around town. Kinda lazy like that. That pin on my shoulder was put their randomly by a woman for the Corpus. It has a little saint on it. Then we got down graded to different saints when our donation was too cheap! |
