Photos: First day at the clinic.

Ok before I face that shower again, I've got to share a few photos of things that actually happened, you know, today. But while I'm waiting for them to load, here's a few highlights.

The nuns are wonderful women. They give such good vibes that you just can't help but beam the biggest, goofiest, dumb smile around them. And they do amazing work that few others would touch. We've seen some pretty bad wounds today. Terrible bed sores and surprising amount of osteomyelitis. These people are so poor that their diet is potatoes and rice. Without the protein, their bones can't make the collagen matrix and are prone to infection.

There is also quite a bit of TB in the area. Second group, I'm talking to you. You need to buy a mask that will block out pathogens. The clinic doesn't have many lying around. We each bought one at a pharmacy today for 3 soles. So they are available and cheap, just put it on your list of things to do. Also, the clinic has limited sanitation supplies. It would be a big benefit to bring your own alcohol swabs to clean your steths.

I will write more for you soon. Onto the photos! Goodies below the cut.

Prepping water bottles before we go out. Big jug: best purchase to date.

This is their library where we first met Señora Amparo. They have a surprising number of English books in here.

After a long day, the Hermanas cooked luch for us. ¡Que rico!

A closer look. I was very excited about apples I could trust.

The whole group at the entrance of the hospital with Hermana Maria. She's works in education. As I said, it's impossible not to smile around these women.
