Photo Dump 5: Odds and ends

So my camera's over due for a dumping! And since it's been quite some time, the time stamps are a little fuzzy on these guys. Also many of these photos might have been replicated in previous posts. With that being said, here's a few more sights from Cuzco.

Also, in the month of June, people in this city love to party. Every day there is a parade for something, it almost is one continuous thing. So remember that you're probably seeing three or four different events in there. Today is the culmination of all that because we're hitting the winter solstice, but you know what? We're taking it pretty easy today. Emails, updating posts, cooking in, and taking care of our health.

But enough of that, onto pictures!

Many pictures. Maybe too many.

A good bye photo to the wonderful Dr. Patricia who was leaving that day.

OK. The parade photos start.

These become random shots between squeezing from point A to point B.

Because there is just constantly one going on. I get anywhere from 2 to 4 shots per parade.
We never watch the whole thing.

Pulling a float by their heads!

In between this, there is much walking. And many stairs.

But I'm a little slower than the group. A combination of physical endurance and not putting my camera away.

A view from a second story restaurant.

Half way to Cristo Blanco.

Possible captions for this picture.
Veronica: Alpaca, I summon you!
Monsy: A cute alpaca.
Erick: dinner.

Cristo Blanco! He's so big you can see him from the city. At night they light him up but the rest of the mountain is not so he looks like he's ascending to heaven.

....!!! Look! An alpaca!

Oh look. A tourist.

Not amused.

The outskirts of sacsayhuaman. We just went to the edge because we hadn't bought our tourist tickets yet.
 Next week we'll go in.

Fashions of Cuzco. The little girl has wind blown, sunburned cheeks. This is pretty much all of the children who come to the clinic out in Acopia. The whites of their eyes will turn brown just from the wind and the dust. Then under their eye lids, they are perfect and clear. The kids could really use some eye protection.

Coricancha at night. There was a concert playing here.

Best buds.

Go gators!

Looking for what has turned out to be our favorite restaurant. Jack's Cafe.
So you know, try it the next time your in Cusco.

Purified ice for the win!

And when you go there, These are the pancakes you have to order. Mango cream.

And of course, more people winding down from parades.

And yet another.

And there were floats on display from the previous days.

I think this one had the greatest skill.

But this guy had the greatest balls.

Random night parade.

Traveling to Acopia. I love the earth bricks.

Slowing down in a shared road.

The herder.

and his entourage.

Discussing a troubling case.

New night. Now the fireworks come out. Are you starting to see a pattern?

Packed.

New day. New parade.

These spectators are more interested in their jello. Yum.

Also a completely different parade. I promise.

Cusco loves music and dancing. These guys were pumping a giant flute up in the air.
A lot of joy in these streets.

The farmacy at the clinic. The shrines will rotate from room to room on different days.
Sadly, these shelves are very meagerly stocked. As soon as something comes in, it is used.

Winding down form work.

And on the walk back there's another parade.

Best friends from around the country, converging together across the world.

Last parade I photographed, I swear.
